God has called each of us by name and invites us to join Him in building His Kingdom on earth. While there is no exact blueprint, we are each richly blessed by God with gifts to share so that we might do our part to realize His grand plan for us, and our brothers and sisters in Christ.
St. Mary's serves as our home for worship, while at the same time being so much more. It is also home to outreach, education, spirituality, and community. St. Mary’s depends on us to invest our gifts of time, talent and treasure to support these ministries in the work of building the Kingdom.
By sharing your gifts with our parish, you not only affirm your Gospel commitment to build the Kingdom of God here in Hockessin, but you are also bearing witness that our parish is a place of love and charity, where gifts are not only shared, but multiplied. May God richly bless you for sharing your gifts so freely.
Online Giving is an easy and convenient way to support St. Mary's. The benefits of online giving include the convenience of being able to give from anywhere at at time that's best for you, not having to write checks, and the ability to set up recurring donations so you don't miss an opportunity to give while you are away. And, because you may set up donations to BOTH regular offeratory and second collection, there are no needs for envelopes.
We take protecting the security and privacy of our donors’ payment information and transactions very seriously. That’s why our payment processing service, Vanco Payment Solutions, utilizes the most advanced technology and follows the most stringent guidelines to ensure all your information remains secure. And to ensure it adapts seamlessly to any changes in technology or the business environment, Vanco reviews its security measures and policies continuously. You should always be able to trust how your information is handled by your payment solutions provider.
As part of its comprehensive security and privacy safeguards, Vanco only collects the pertinent information required to perform your payment transactions. And, that information is stored in Vanco’s secure system and only used when needed to fulfill your requests and services. Read about Vanco's security and PCI compliance...
Members are able to give using direct withdrawal from checking and savings accounts and credit or debit cards, giving you more payment options. St. Mary's no longer has to process your paper checks (bank bill pay programs also send us paper checks). This saves time and is more secure..and better for the environment! Members making recurring donations help with our cash flow and churches have also found that the ease and convenience of online giving often results in an increase in contributions.
Our system allows you to make gifts to both our regular weekend offertory AND our second collections. Flexible options for giving frequency and setting payment dates add to the convenience. The desktop version of our system lists ALL funds available while the mobile app (Give+) lists only the most commonly used funds and the second collections for the month. For that reason, if you decide to set up all of your donations at once or recurring donations, we recommend accessing the system from a desktop computer.
From the ONLINE GIVING drop-down menu at the top of the web page, choose Give Now. That takes you from the church’s website to a secure donation page hosted by Vanco Payment Solutions. The donation page lists all of the funds which support St. Mary's and the Diocese. You may give to any and all funds during the same session, making it convenient to set up your donations.

Think of our new online giving system as a virtual collection basket. Once you set up recurring donations for your regular offertory and second collections, there is no longer a need to use envelopes. But if you or your family enjoy the act of placing a gift in the collection basket, "I GIVE ONLINE" cards will be available in the Gathering Space for your use.
Giving Fact: Did you know that printing and mailing envelopes to parishioners costs St. Mary's $1,200 a month?
Although we encourage everyone to take advantage of the convenience of online giving, you may make your gifts to St. Mary's in any way you wish. Our research has shown that only a small percentage of our parishioners are using the envelopes they receive. Over 250 of our members are using direct Automated Clearing House (ACH) withdrawal for regular offertory. Many others are choosing to place loose checks in the collection basket without using their member envelopes. Others use cash donations, especially for second collections. We gratefully accept all gifts and thank you for your generosity.
In addition to your regular offertory withdrawal, you are now able to designate second collection withdrawals for facility maintenance fund, St. Vincent de Paul and all other second collections through the year. Contact the parish office to assist you with setting up these additional donations.
Thank You
We'll say it again--Thank You! St. Mary's offers many giving opportunities through our online giving system where you are able to help the parish continue its service to our 2,600 families, to maintain and improve our facilities and to support Diocesan programs that benefit local, national and global communities. All gifts make a difference, and your generosity and continued support of St. Mary's is most appreciated.
The Offertory, or Collection, at Mass is an integral part of the Sunday liturgy, not just because it is the primary means by which the parish receives financial support from the parishioners, but because it is also an expression of our gratitude to God for the blessings He has given us to return a portion of them back to Him for use by His Church. By our baptism as Catholics we are called to be stewards of God’s gifts to us, to use them in ways that build up our families, our parish, our community, and our world. In that stewardship, we are encouraged to be deliberate and intentional in weighing our various obligations against our limited resources as we decide where we spend those resources of time and money and effort. When we give to our parish and to the greater Church, we are demonstrating to our children and to the world our values and what’s important to us.
Each month one of our second collections is taken to support our Facility Maintenance Fund. Donations go directly toward maintaining and improving our church, preschool and office buildings.
Throughout the year, there are four second collections for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a Catholic lay organization founded in Paris in 1833. It is now a global Catholic organization dedicated to serving those in need. Here at St. Mary's our team of volunteers, inspired by Gospel values, join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service for the impoverished seeking assistance, primarily for rent, electric, oil and/or food. Share in the Spirit Collection for Tuition Assistance is a Diocesan second collection that occurs once a year during the month of September. This fund provides Catholic School tuition assistance to families in the Diocese. A second collection will be taken at St. Mary's Masses in September, but you may now give to this fund any time you wish through our online giving system. Read more about Share in the Spirit...
