Signing up can be confusing; you will register with SMA below AND you have to register with CYM to be placed on the league roster.
If you are a returning athlete, you will need to go to your profile page on the CYM site and update your information. Once completed, you will be officially registered.
Authorization form should automatically appear next to your child’s name on the profile page.
The CYM website is https://www.cdowcym.org/athletics/
If you are a NEW athlete, do the following:
Create a profile
You will create a parent and a child profile
Make sure to mark St. Mary Assumption as your parish
It will take a few days for CYM to approve your profile.
Here is a link to a video that will help you with the registration process: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vp080LO6kFfoGIfnPa7mesPxQLnS2TyE/view?usp=sharing
Print Athlete Authorization Form should appear next to your athlete when process is complete

Basketball Information (Please Read)
Sign Ups will run from October 1 until October 18th. After the 18th, we will accept players for age groups that we still need players in order to field teams.
Certain age groups will fill up quickly and there may be waiting lists for some age groups and not others. We will accommodate our returning players and they will be placed on a team but returning families MUST sign up before the deadline in order to receive that privilege.
Basketball is for boys and girls grades 3 through 8; we will have Senior league teams if interest is there(grades 9-12)
Tryouts(and team formations) will begin for each age group in early November.. Exacts dates and times TBD.
Certain age groups will need to wait for the completion of fall sports in order to hold their tryouts.
THERE ARE NO CUTS. TRYOUTS DOES NOT = YOUR SON OUR DAUGHTER NOT MAKING A TEAM.
As long as we have enough players, coaches, and gym space, we will have a team for anyone who comes out.
Tryouts will be held at either HB DuPont Middle School or McKean High School
For most age groups, there will be at least 1 impartial evaluator to help in the creation of teams
Games begin in early December, usually the first or second weekend. All league games will stop during Christmas break and resume after the holidays until the middle of February
There are tournaments scattered throughout the season that your team may play in
SMA will pay for 1 tournament per team wanting to play in one. All other tournament costs will be divided among parents or taken on by the coach.
Teams generally practice 2 times a week with a game on the weekend.
HB DuPont, Skyline Middle, McKean High School, AI DuPont High School, and Brandywine Springs are the practice locations so far. More will be added after we determine our gym needs.
Practices will be between 60-90 minutes long and we try to finish by 9 or 9:30pm.
There are playoffs for EVERY level for JV and Varsity teams this year. Please keep that in mind as the season will run through all of February.
Varsity teams may be constructed with playoff eligibility in mind; being a non-parishioner could impact what team your child is placed on.
Last year, CYM tried to begin post-season tournaments or playoffs for every age group.
Uniforms will be provided.
8th graders and senior league players–if you are at a school that allows 8th graders to play for the high schol, you are not permitted to play on a high school team and a CYM team at the same time. If this applies to you, contact Mike Pietlock at [email protected]
Volunteering Requirement
SMA sports is 100% self-funded and the largest CYM program without the backing of a school or gym. SMA sports is also an office of 1. As a result, we ask parents to help out in our fundraising efforts and our operations in order to give our children the best experience.
There is a $150 deposit that is held until May. If you met your requirement, the check is torn up. Volunteering does not have to occur during your child’s season of play; we will take your help at any time.
Make sure to fill out the fill in field below and hit SUBMIT. The field should disappear if done correctly.
